By Profession of Faith and Baptism

If you are not now a baptized Christian, the Pastor will be happy to discuss the meaning of the Sacrament with you.

If you were baptized as an infant or young child and have not made a profession of faith and been confirmed, then you will prepare to reaffirm your baptism when you take the membership vows.

By Transfer from Another United Methodist Church

You can find materials in the church Sanctuary.  Mark the Friendship Pad or Visitor Card “Wish to Join” column, and give it to the pastor or an usher as you attend a Worship Service.  You can also call the church office at (352)596-0080.  The Pastor will contact you to discuss the next steps.

By Transfer from Another Christian Denomination

The process is very much like joining by profession of faith.  Since you are already baptized and confirmed, these steps will not be repeated unless you so desire.  You will be asked to take one vow taken by all members of the United Methodist Church:  "Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, and your service?"

Affiliate or Associate Membership

If you are a United Methodist whose membership is in another city or state, but reside here temporarily or part-time, you can become an Affiliate Member of Mariner United Methodist Church.  This grants you pastoral care, fellowship, and full participation (including the holding of church offices, but no vote on Administrative Council) at Mariner.  You will not be counted in the Mariner roll, but at your "home" church.  The pastor will contact your "home" church pastor informing him/her of your Affiliate Member status at Mariner United Methodist Church.

Members of other Christian denominations may elect to become Associate Members under the same conditions.

We believe that Christ calls us to be disciples, followers. A way to be a disciple is to become a member of the Mariner United Methodist Church family.
